Supreme Court Seeks Report From Odisha Govt On Mishap At Haladiapadar ROB In Ganjam



Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court has sought a report from the Odisha government regarding a recent road accident that claimed at least five lives in Ganjam district.

The Supreme Court Road Safety Committee (SCCoRS) has asked the state government to submit a report on the accident that took place on the National Highway near Haladiapadar in Berhampur in January.

It sought a comprehensive report by March 5. The committee has also instructed the authorities

to take necessary safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.

This apart, the SC panel has asked the state government to submit a report outlining the proposed safety measures to the committee.

It may be noted that at least five people lost their lives several others sustained grievous injuries after being hit by a truck in Berhampur on January 31.

As the mishap drew widespread public attention, the Supreme Court Committee has taken a serious view of the matter and emphasised the need for strict enforcement of traffic rules.

The committee is expected to review the findings of the state government and assess whether adequate preventive steps are being implemented.

The incident has once again highlighted the importance of strengthening highway safety mechanisms and ensuring accountability to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
