Patna: As counting continues in the Bihar Assembly elections, one trend stands out unmistakably — social media has turned Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party into the day’s favourite punchline. With the outfit failing to register any visible presence in early trends, meme-makers have launched a relentless barrage of sarcasm and satire at Kishor’s political venture.
“Jan Suraaj ka suraj ugne ke pehle hi doob raha hai,” one user quipped, capturing the sentiment dominating timelines. Another took a corporate swipe: “Jan Suraaj failed completely. Big setback for McKinsey & BCG. Consultants can only consult.” A third offered a flat verdict: “Jan Suraaj has completely collapsed.”
Exit polls had already set the tone for this online mockery, with pollsters across the board predicting a grim showing for the new party. Most gave it zero to two seats, with only one agency projecting the possibility of touching five. Kishor, who stayed out of the electoral fray, has been hoping the party’s vote share would indicate whether Jan Suraaj could chip away at the NDA or the Mahagathbandhan — although early counting hasn’t provided much reason for cheer.
Here’s what exit polls predicted for the party:
Axis My India: 0–2
Vote Vibe: 0–2
CNX: 0–2
Dainik Bhaskar: 0
People’s Pulse: 0–5
