Bhubaneswar: Surjit Bhujabal from Odisha has been appointed as member of Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC).
According to an official letter of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Bhujabal, a 1989 batch IRS officer and presently serving as Principal Director General, DGGI, Delhi, has been appointed to the post of Member, CBIC.
Bhujabal replaces Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, a 1988 IRS officer, who has been appointed as Chairman of CBIC.
Born in Bhubaneswar, Bhujabal had is school education in the city and New Delhi. He has 4 Master degrees from different universities. He was selected for the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Central Excise) in 1989 after clearing Civil Services Examinations in 1988.
An avid nature lover, he has been resource person/faculty on Wildlife Trade and Prevention of Crime at NACIN, Institute of Indian Wood Science & Technology.
