Berhampur: Officials of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) conducted surprise inspection of several private hospitals and nursing homes in the south Odisha city on Sunday and reportedly found violation of rules and norms at several places.
According to reports, the BeMC team carried out the inspection as part of its strategy to ensure compliance of the Clinical Establishment Act and other norms.
The team, led by BeMC Commissioner J Sonal, verified the building occupancy, approved building plans, Clinical Establishment Act Registration Certificate, biomedical waste management authorization and fire NOC, sources said.
X Ray and ultrasound registration certificates and other documents were also examined and instructions issued to comply, they said, adding that the team also inspected operation theatres at some private hospitals.
The whole exercise was aimed to verify it the units have requisite certificates and permission under the clinical establishment act and for operating X-ray and ultra sound machines and whether qualified doctors and staff are engaged or not, BeMC Commissioner said.
While some of the units have violated norms under the Odisha Development Authority law as the ceilings are in dilapidated condition, several units lacked occupancy certificate.
