Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will soon conduct a ward-level survey to identify urban poor.
The objective behind the survey under Sahajog initiative is to allow them access social sector schemes of the Odisha government. It includes identifying eligible beneficiaries, raising awareness and delivering services at their doorstep, all aimed at strengthening implementation mechanisms at urban local body (ULB) and district levels.
A training programme, chaired by mayor Sulochana Das, was held on Thursday for corporators of all 67 wards. The public representative along with other field-level staff and workers of BMC will be tasked with identifying beneficiaries from urban communities and linking them with appropriate schemes – Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), NFSA ration cards, pipe water supply, Ayushman Card, PWD identity card, Subhadra Yojana, labour card, e-Shram card, Garima Scheme, PM Vishwakarma Yojana, Madhubabu Pension Yojana, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana – through mass awareness.
Launched in March, the initiative will initially cover beneficiaries in 44 ULBs across eight districts via the Sahajog App, sources said.
