Mumbai: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials detained Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik Chakraborty for questioning on Friday morning, shortly after the anti-drug probe agency carried out searches at his home.
Showik was taken to NCB’s Mumbai office for questioning. The investigating agency, which is probing the drugs angle in actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, has drawn links between Showik and alleged drug dealer Zaid Vilatra, who was arrested on Wednesday.
Another NCB team carried out searches at the house of Sushant’s house manager Samuel Miranda, who was also taken to the NCB office for questioning after the searches that began at 6.40 am.
“The searches were conducted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985,” NDTV reported quoting an NCB official said. Showik’s laptoop has been seized for investigation, the official added.
Sources said 20-year-old Vilatra allegedly supplied cannabis to Showik Chakraborty and Samuel Miranda. They were introduced to each by another middleman Abdel Basit Parihar.
Earlier on Friday, an NCB team had also carried out searches at Rhea’s home in Mumbai.
