Sushil Kumar Shifted To Tihar Jail As Judicial Custody Extended Till July 9

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Friday extended twice-Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar’s judicial custody till July 9 in connection with the murder case of wrestler Sagar Rana.

The wrestler has also been moved to Tihar jail from Mandoli jail, where he had thus far been lodged.

Sushil, who is facing charges of murder, culpable homicide and kidnapping, was brought before Metropolitan Magistrate Mayank Aggarwal at the end of a 14-day judicial custody.

Sushil and his associates allegedly assaulted Rana and his two friends at Delhi’s Chhatrasal Stadium on the intervening night of May 4 and 5 over a property dispute. The 23-year-old wrestler Rana later succumbed to the injuries.

Sushil was on the run for over a fortnight before being arrested on May 23.

Nine others have been arrested so far in the case.
