New Delhi: Union Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday announced that she will not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
One of the senior most leaders of the ruling BJP, she shared the decision with mediapersons in Madhya Pradesh.
Madhya Pradesh will go to polls later this month.
According to reports, Sushma citing health reasons for the decision.
“It is the party which decides, but I have made up my mind not to contest the next elections,” she said in Indore.
Currently, she is the Lok Sabha MP from Vidisha, around 56 km from the state capital Bhopal. She was forced to stay away from work for months in 2016, after which she had a kidney transplant.
