Bhubaneswar: Continuing their tradition of breaking new ground with every song, singer Susmita Das and director Dev Meher have delivered another music video.
The song ‘Nua Thikana Ku’ (Towards a New Destination), on the freedom of a woman, will be released on Saturday evening, the eve of Independence Day, on YouTube channels of Auromira Entertainment and Susmita.
The music video shows a woman who wakes up in confused state, in the middle of the night, after a heated argument with her husband.
The woman is in an abusive relationship and is haunted by the questions — is she free? Is she herself?
While flipping through old pictures, she is struck by who she used to be. She suddenly picks a Bullet (bike) lying in her garage and sets out on a road trip.
“During her journey, she meets some old acquaintances, strangers with familiar smiles and unfamiliar terrains. Through various metaphors which echo with our practical life, she gradually recovers internally,” said director Dev Meher.
“The song has been shot in Koraput, Assam, Darjeeling and Shillong. It took nearly five months to complete the video,” he added.
Composed by Abhijeet Mishra, the song has been penned by Mohit Chakraborty. Well-known actress Suryamayee Mohapatra has performed the role of ‘The Bullet Girl’ in the music video.
“I like to produce songs on contemporary social issues to sensitize public sentiment as I believe music is the most powerful medium to reach out to the masses. The music serves as a reminder to all women that one’s identity must be retained and valued at all costs,” said singer Susmita.
“The experience of watching this music video will be emotional and personal. I think just about anyone with a beating heart will love it,” hoped Meher.
Susmita and Meher earlier delivered popular music videos like ‘Aigiri Nandini’ and ‘Prithvi Manthan’.
