Bhubaneswar: The suspended IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak had planned to invite some frontline Bollywood actresses to perform at a dance programme of the marriage function of his son Akash Pathak.

The 20-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the State Vigilance, probing into the disproportionate assets of Abhay, has come to know about it.

The preparation for the marriage of Akash was completed at the Taj Lake Palace at Udaipur in Rajasthan. Abhay had given Rs 20 lakh in advance to the Taj Hotel with a promise that he would pay the rest amount of Rs 4.80 crore later, Vigilance sources said.

While arrangements were made to bring the bridegroom party in a chartered flight and present them with costly gifts, a special menu was also drawn up for the guests.

Besides, 3-4 frontline Bollywood actresses were contacted to perform to entertain the guests during the marriage. While three actresses did not agree due to COVID-19 situation, negotiation with a South Indian actress working in Bollywood was in the final stage.

Akash had also contacted some well-known Bollywood singers for the occasion.

While the budget for the marriage was stated to be Rs 10 crore, the actual expenditure would have been much more, the Vigilance sources said.
