Bhubaneswar: A fresh case was registered against the suspended IIC of Badchana Police Station, Deepak Kumar Jena, on Tuesday for allegedly breaking law and installing red beacon light illegally in a private vehicle with fraudulent intent.
“He has been booked under Sections 166, 166(A) and 171 of IPC for disobeying the direction of law despite being a public servant. Further investigation is underway,” informed Jajpur SP Charan Singh Meena.
On Monday, DGP Abhay had suspended Jena for violating the COVID-19 lockdown norms by forcibly entering Jagannath Temple in Puri. A Havildar, who had tried to stop him at the south gate of the temple, had lodged a complaint against him at Singhadwara police station.
It was later alleged that he had travelled to Puri in a stolen vehicle seized by the Badchana police.
