Bhubaneswar: A day after being granted bail by the Orissa High Court, suspended IAS officer Bijaya Ketan Upadhyaya walked out of Jharpada Jail here on Tuesday.
Taking to the media, the former Horticulture director, who was arrested in a bribery case on December 30 last year, said that the matter is sub judice and he will abide by the decision of the court.
The vigilance had arrested the 2009-batch IAS officer for allegedly demanding Rs 1 lakh bribe from an empanelled sprinkler irrigations systems supplier for passing a bill of Rs 50 lakh. The relationship manager of YES Bank, Santosh Kumar Pattanayak, was also apprehended while allegedly accepting the bribe amount on behalf of Upadhyaya.
Following his arrest, the state government had suspended him.
