Puri: A man driving an SUV was critical injured after the vehicle plunged from the first floor of Jagannath Ballav multi-level car parking in Odisha’s Puri on Sunday.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident took place as the man, a resident of Dhamara area, was reversing his vehicle into a parking slot. The SUV toppled over the edge in the absence of a guard wall and crashed to the ground, leaving the driver severely injured. Locals rushed to the spot hearing a loud noise, pulled the driver out of the badly damaged vehicle and rushed him to the district headquarters hospital, where his condition is stated to be critical.
While the incident has raised questions over safety measures at the structure, police and parking authorities have initiated a probe.
