Bhubaneswar: Odisha police officers were stranded after the SUV in which they were travelling was intercepted and seized by a finance company at Patrapada near Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar.
The recovery agents forced the team out of the vehicle, which was engaged in Balasore district’s Sahadevkhunta police station on a monthly rental, citing non-payment of the EMIs.
The incident took place when the police team was in Bhubaneswar to arrest an accused on Wednesday.
The recovery agents had come looking for the owner of the vehicle, who is a resident of Bhubaneswar, as he had not paid the EMIs for several months, despite repeated reminders.
The SUV was then handed over to the Khandagiri police.
The Sahadevkhunta police team then returned to Balasore in a separate vehicle.
Sahadevkhunta police station in-charge Krushna Chandra Pallei confirmed the incident to India Today but refused to divulge more details.
