Nuapada: In a tragic incident, driver of an SUV lost control and rammed into a house killing a woman in the district on Saturday.
According to sources, the vehicle, which was going in high speed, skidded off the road and forced into the house of Naresh Hans in Gadramunda village under Khariar police limits. It ran over the wife of Naresh, Namita Hans killing her on the spot. Naresh and his three-year-old son, who were critically injured in the mishap, were admitted in a hospital in Khariar.
Agitated over the accident, the villagers detained the driver demanding adequate compensation for the family of Naresh. As tension mounted, police reached the village to pacify the villagers.
With the villagers denied to release the drive despite police intervention, Khariar Additional Tehsildar Tapan Naik went to the spot to hold discussion with the agitating villagers. The deadlock was no resolved till the report was filed.
