Puri: The ‘Swargadwar’, here is set for a facelift with renovated provisions for the cremation and the visitors, said district collector Balwant Singh on Wednesday.
During a visit to the cremation ground in the Pilgrim Town, Singh said renovation and beautification work will be taken on four sides of the area. There will be single window facility to enable the people to perform hassle-free cremation.
Besides, steps will be taken to ensure that the visitors are accorded a cordial and sympathetic environment to bid adieu to their near and dear ones, the collector said.
Later in the day, attending a meeting of the workers of the cremation ground at Gandhighat, Singh said the administration will make efforts to improve their livelihood and bring them under insurance cover. Senior officials of Puri Municipality and other departments were present.
