New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal on Sunday alleged she was receiving rape and death threats after a campaign of character assassination orchestrated by AAP leaders and volunteers.
She also accused YouTuber Dhruv Rathee of further escalating it by posting a one-sided video against her.
Maliwal shared screenshots of rape threats received on social media platforms and said she had been subjected to character assassination and victim shaming allegedly by her own party leaders.
“After the leaders and volunteers of my party i.e. AAP orchestrated a campaign of character assassination, victim shaming and fanning of emotions against me, I have been getting rape and death threats. This got further exacerbated when YouTuber Dhruv Rathee posted a one-sided video against me,” she wrote on X.
The former Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) chairperson also said that she was being intimidated by AAP leadership to withdraw her complaint.
Maliwal added she also tried to contact Dhruv Rathee to share her side of story but he ignored her calls and messages.
