New Delhi: The Tis Hazari court here on Monday dismissed the bail petition of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s PA Bibhav Kumar in the Swati Maliwal assault case.
Kumar will move Delhi High Court to appeal the decision of the magisterial court.
Kumar, accused of assaulting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP at Kejriwal’s residence on May 13, was sent to four days’ judicial custody on May 24.
Maliwal stated in her complaint that when she was waiting to meet Kejriwal at the CM’s official residence, Kumar screamed, threatened and used abusive language against her, besides “brutally assaulting” her, dragging and banging her head on the centre table.
Kumar’s lawyer said during the bail argument that that it was “all premeditated.”
False allegations were raised to malign Kumar for whatever reason she has, “for thinking he was responsible for her not meeting the Chief Minister,” the lawyer said, making a counter allegation that Maliwal chose the spot of alleged because there was no CCTV.
Maliwal, who countered these arguments, broke down in court at this point.
“They (AAP) have an army of trolls. The entire party machinery has been deployed. Continuous press conferences were held against me. This man (Bibhav Kumar) is not normal,” the Rajya Sabha MP said.
Delhi Police told the court earlier that it was a “serious case” where the “brutal assault” could have turned “fatal,” and also alleged Kumar was not cooperating with the probe.

In a fresh development, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has claimed that Kumar was called to the CM’s residence after Maliwal reached there. Seeking details on whose direction he was called, NCW called for an investigation into Call Detail Records (CDR) of all involved individuals, including Kejriwal.
