Puri: Amid hectic preparations for the Navy Day celebrations in Odisha’s Puri on December 4. A possible mishap was averted following swift action by a vigilant helicopter pilot during rehearsal over the beach on Saturday.
During rehearsal, a special formation display involving five choppers was being practised when a bird was seen flying directly towards one of the helicopters.
Soon after spotting the approaching bird, the alert pilot of the helicopter swiftly responded and manoeuvred the chopper without disrupting or obstructing the way of other choppers. A possible bird hit was averted due to the pilot’s presence of mind and swift action.
The Navy Day celebrations is being held in Puri for the first time. The Indian Navy is all set to display its prowess during the operational demonstration to be held at the Blue Flag beach on December 4.
Sources said over 24 warships, 40 aircraft, including helicopters and fighter jets, will demonstrate the Navy’s mighty maritime capabilities and operational strength through water and aerial strength against the majestic shoreline in Odisha.
