New Delhi: Since the lockdown from March, the most ordered item on food delivery platform Swiggy has been chicken biryani with 5.5 lakh orders. This was followed by butter naan (3.35 lakh orders) and masala dosa (3.31 lakh orders).
Swiggy has also delivered nearly 323 million kg of onions and 56 million kg of bananas through its grocery delivery service along with 73,000 bottles of sanitizers and hand washes, and 47,000 face masks.
Coming to food, around 1.29 lakh choco lava cakes and 1.2 lakh birthday cakes were also ordered during this time.
On an average, 65,000 meal orders were placed daily by 8 pm.
“As far as food is concerned when people weren’t whipping up dalgonas or baking banana bread, they found comfort in their biryanis, which continued to rule the roost with nearly 5.5 lakh orders,” the company said in a statement.
Food delivery business is back to 70 per cent after unlock protocols were introduced.
