Swiggy Served Rs 7.59-Cr Tax Notice; Will The Order Impact Its Operations?

Mumbai: Swiggy has been served a tax violation notice in Maharashtra.

The popular food and grocery delivery platform received an assessment order for the period of April 2021 to March 2022, amounting to Rs 7.59 crore, from the Office of the Professional Tax Officer, Pune, reported PTI.

Swiggy said the tax authorities has alleged violation of provisions pertaining to deduction of Profession Tax from the employees’ salary under the Maharashtra State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings & Employments Act, 1975.

The company will apply for review or appeal the order, and stated that it will have no major adverse impact on its financials and operations.

“The Company believes that it has strong arguments against the Order and is taking necessary steps to protect its interest through review/appeal,” Swiggy said in a regulatory filing on Saturday.
