Bhubaneswar: Services of Swiggy has been curtailed in the Odisha capital with delivery partners on strike for the last one week.
DEMANDS
>> Immediate restoration of incentives, which was allegedly stopped following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
>> Increase in payout to Rs 8/km instead of the present Rs 4/km per order.
>> Clearing of incentive dues prior to July 2020.
Swiggy has around 800 partners in the city.
THE COMPLAINT
A complaint was lodged at Chandrasekharpur police station in this regard in June last year, following a meeting of Swiggy officials and delivery partners were held where the latter was assured that the issue would be resolved soon.
“Seven months have passed and we are yet to be paid the monthly incentive of Rs 3,000 which comes to around Rs 21,000,” a delivery partner was quoted as saying by The New Indian Express.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT
“Monthly incentives are tied to the total orders delivered in a month. Most delivery partners in Bhubaneswar make over Rs 40/order, which translates to Rs 8/km. These are on a par with what they made pre-COVID and with industry standards.”
SIMILAR PROTEST
In August 2019, delivery boys of Zomato had staged a demonstration at the Lower PMG square here to protest against the decrease in their payout and incentives from 40/order to Rs 25/order.
