Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Odisha Rout Sikkim By 104 Runs To Post 2nd Win

Mumbai: Odisha made short work of Sikkim in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 meet here on Thursday.

After posting 210/5 in 20 overs, Odisha skittled out Sikkim for 106.

There were several contributors to Odisha’s 104-run victory. Opener Sandeep Pattanaik carried his bat, his undefeated 71 coming off 45 balls which included 6 fours and 4 sixes. Allrounder Prayash Singh provided the impetus in the second half of the innings with a 34-ball 75 (5×4, 5×6).

Medium-pacers Sunil Roul (4/24) and Debabrata Pradhan (3/14) then tightened the screws on Sikkim, who were never in the hunt to chase down the stiff target.

Odisha, who lost to Himachal Pradesh two days ago after beating Goa in the opener, are in third place in Group B.

Brief scores: Odisha 210/5 in 20 overs (Prayash Singh 75, Sandeep Pattanaik 71; Sumit Singh 2/21). Sikkim 106 all out in 17.2 overs (Sunil Roul 4/24, Debabrata Pradhan 3/14).

Result: Odisha won by 104 runs.

Group B position: Odisha 3rd (8 pts in 2 matches); Sikkim 8th (No point in 3 matches).

Odisha’s next game: Vs Services on Oct 21.
