Rourkela: A symbolic function was held to mark the 23rd edition of “Vedvyas Sangeet Nrityotsav-2020”, organised under the aegis of Bhanja Kala Kendra, the cultural wing of Bhanja Cultural Trust.
The function was organised in strict adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines in front of the Golden Jubilee Monument.
The prominent cultural event of the region had to be curtailed this year due to COVID-19 pandemic. Classical and folk dance and music exponents from across the country present their performances at the open-air-auditorium of Bhanja Bhavan during the annual winter festival that is held from November 1 to 5. The festival is organised with support from the Central and the state governments as well as SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant and other corporate houses.
Amar Behera, former general manager of SAIL attended the function was chief guest. PK Mohanty, president, Bhanja Kala Kendra; Radha Krushna Mohapatra, general secretary, Bhanja Kala Kendra and Aseem Kumar Behera and Alok Kumar Behera, advisors, Bhanja Kala Kendra were present.
The guests along with other dignitaries paid obeisance to Lord Jagannath and lighted the ceremonial lamps amid chanting of Vedic Shlokas. The function commenced with the presentation of the State Anthem ‘Bande Utkal Janani’ by the functionaries of Bhanja Kala Kendra led by Guru Binapani Rath. A number of Odissi vocals were presented by the artists.
