Balangir: A man was allegedly hacked to death after being invited to New Year eve feast in Odisha’s Balangir district on Saturday night.
As per reports, Purusottam Behera, a tailor of Tanla village under Belpada police limits, had given Rs 6,000 on loan to a person of the same village some time back. But the villager did not return the amount for a long time despite repeated request of Purusottam.
On Saturday, the villager talked to Purusottam on phone and invited him to a feast at a nursery on the outskirt of the village. As Purusottam did not return for a long time, his family and their neighbours went in search of him in the evening.
They found his bike near the nursery and further search, Purusottam was found lying beside a stream at a distance. On being informed, a team from Belpada police station reached the place and sent the body for post-mortem. The police have registered a case but nobody has been arrested in this connection.
