Cuttack: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the State Vigilance on Tuesday unearthed deposits of Rs 14.77 crore from the accounts in different banks of Akash Pathak, the son of Odisha IFS officer and Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Abhay Kant Pathak during its investigation into a disproportionate assets case.
The State Vigilance Directorate, in a statement, stated that the analysis of statements of three bank accounts of Akash in Bhubaneswar and Pune showed cash deposits of Rs 9.48 crore and deposits through transfer/clearings of Rs 5.29 crore, totaling Rs.14.77 crore. The team is also verifying land records of the IFS officer and his son’s educational expenses.
According to the statement, officers of the State Forensic Science Laboratory, Bhubaneswar have started examination of the seized cell phones, laptops and other devices.
The Vigilance sleuths also examined a DFO, two Assistant Conservator of Forests, the travel and tour operator who handled the tickets of chartered flights and booking in hotels.
Verification was undertaken at places associated with the IFS officer’s previous postings in Rajgangpur, Sambalpur, Balangir, Angul, Boudh, Koraput and Berhampur. The offices of PCCF and Forest & Environment Department were also searched.
