Mumbai: The two Taj hotels in Mumbai, Taj Mahal Palace and Taj Land Ends, allegedly received bomb threat calls from Pakistan around midnight on Monday.
The caller, who claimed to be a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit, first called the staffer of Taj Mahal Palace in Colaba and threatened to blow up the hotel just like the 26/11 attack.
Then, the caller made the same threat call to hotel Taj Lands End in Bandra.
As per reports, both the threat calls were made from the same Pakistan number.
Following the threat calls, security has been beefed up around the Taj hotels and all the nearby roads have been closed.
“Security tightened outside Taj Hotels and nearby areas after a threat call was received yesterday from Karachi, Pakistan to blow up the hotels with bombs,” the Mumbai Police was quoted by ANI.
The threat call to Taj hotels was made on the same day when four armed terrorists attacked the Pakistan Stock Exchange building in Karachi.
On November 26, 2008, Mumbai had witnessed one of the deadliest terror attacks in which 166 people were killed and over 300 injured.
Ten heavily-armed Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists from Pakistan had attacked the Taj Hotel, Nariman House, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Cama Hospital among other places.
