Bhubaneswar: Amid a raging controversy over a video showing Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, BJP national bice-president and party’s Kendrapada Lok Sabha candidate Baijayant Panda on Tuesday questioned its authenticity.
In a post on X, the former MP expressed the suspicion that the video might have been prepared using artificial intelligence (AI) and generated through computer to make entirely false allegations.
The senior BJP leader’s post came after a video appeared in which the Chief Minister was heard alleging that no major work has been done by Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi in the last 5 years.
The CM was further heard claiming that the MP has also tried to stop the Ekamra and Lingaraj transformation project.
“The magic is long gone, no crowds at public rallies of Lumber 1 CM! So Tamil puppeteer is again resorting to AI-powered, computer-generated #DeepFake videos “by CM” to make entirely false allegations,” Panda said in his post on X.
“Seriously doubt that the real CM is even aware of what his virtual avatar is purportedly saying,” the BJP leader further said. He also urged the media to check the content and question while asking Bhubaneswar MP to expose the fraudster orchestrating it.
“Media, please check the content and question. & @AprajitaSarangi you’re a fighter, don’t take this fakery lying down, push back and expose the fraudster orchestrating it,” Panda’s post read.
Reacting sharply to the video, Aparajita also alleged that ‘fake narrative’ is being created in politics and termed the claims made false and baseless. She also sought evidence to corroborate the allegation made in the video.
Stating that she respects Chief Minister, the Bhubaneswar MP candidate said there any evidence written or oral regarding his statements that she tried to stall the work of Lingaraj temple work.
“I had never discussed anything on the project. Rather, work has been done with a lot of funds from ASI. The CM is only reading out a written speech,” she said.
