Mumbai: It was Tanushree Dutta who set off the #MeToo movement in India in 2018, when she alleged inappropriate behaviour by Nana Patekar, choreographer Ganesh Acharya during a film shoot.
The former actress and model faced backlash from fans and supporters of Patekar, and political circles as well.
Tanushree did file a police complaint against the veteran actor, but the it was declared as ‘malicious’ and ‘out of revenge’. Patekar was given a clean chit in the case in 2019.
However, the issue wasn’t dead and buried.
After Patekar recently said nothing that Tanushree had said about a shooting sequence for Horn Ok Please song in 2009, Tanushree has levelled fresh allegations against the former, accusing him of ‘criminal intimidation’ and ‘physical harm’.
“How big a liar Nana Patekar is the whole world knows now after the Varanasi boy slapping incident. Nana first tried to made it look like to slap the kid was part of shoot & then he got severe public backlash for trying to cover up his abuse. Then he suddenly took a u turn & apologised half heartedly. Why take 6 years to respond to #metoo?? I’ll tell u why… because he knows dat I may be contemplating another FIR on Nana for conspiracy to murder, criminal intimidation & threat, stalking and cause physical harm. I went through severe harassment from unknown groups of people last few years. I was followed & stalked by strangers wherever I went. Freak Accidents and several attempts to poison me with various substances ensued relentlessly. There were a few attempts to corner me and manipulate me into dangerous situations with strangers too,” Tanushree wrote on Instagram.
Further accusing Patekar of having underworld links, Tanushree said that “a lot of weird stuff kept happening to me & around me,” adding that “all these people seemed like hired goons.”
Tanushree concluded her post by calling Nana a ‘pathological liar’ once again.
