Tata Harrier Unveiled, To Be Launched In January

Mumbai: Tata has finally unveiled its much-talked-about SUV, the Harrier. It is Tata’s most premium product till date and has been the talk of the town ever since the concept was revealed in the 2018 Auto Expo.

The final version of the Tata Harrier has the Audi-style LED DRLs/indicators at the face of the car, a design element that had set the internet ablaze. The main headlights (HID) sit lower in this car.

On the inside, Tata has left no stone unturned. The leather-wrapped dashboard has an oak-finish design. It has an 8.8-inch infotainment system at the centre with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. Based on a modified Land Rover chassis, the Harrier is powered by a 2.0 Fiat sourced Multijet diesel engine that produces 140 bhp power and 350Nm torque. It is mated to 6-speed gearbox sourced from Hyundai. Automatic variant will be launched later. Like other Tata cars, it also has 3 driving modes. There is no all-wheel drive version for now.

Safety wise, the Harrier boasts of a 14-function ESP (Electronic Stability Program) that takes care of hill descent, hill hold, off-road ABS, cornering stability control and brake disc wiping. The SUV has 6 airbags.

The Tata Harrier is also the largest vehicle in its class, even bigger than the 7-seater Mahindra XUV 5OO. It measures 4,598 mm in length, 1,894 mm in width and 1,706 mm in height. The Harrier seats five. A 7-seater version is being developed.
