Mumbai: The Tata Steel, in its continuous endeavour towards shaping a sustainable future, celebrated World Environment Day across various locations, plants and division on Wednesday.
With the year’s theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, the Tata Steel observed the day by undertaking several activities including plantation of saplings, generating awareness on environmental sustainability through programmes like posters and drawing competitions among school children as well as quiz competition for employees.
On the occasion, the company unveiled an innovative ‘Break Up With Plastic’ campaign aimed at raising community awareness about replacing non-recyclable plastic with environment friendly materials.
The Tata Steel celebrated World Environment Day across various locations like Kalinganagar, Noamundi, West Bokaro, Jharia and Joda.
The Tata Steel also won the first prize in the ‘Large Industry’ category for its exemplary work done towards environment protection, improvement and awareness. This is the fifth consecutive year that the company has won award from Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB) and the Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change.
