Kalinganagar: Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) is taking steps to improve skill levels of local youths who have completed ITI and Diploma courses.
The foundation has organised a month-and-a-half fitter training programme for the second batch of students at Tata Steel Skill Development Society (TSSDS) Pvt ITI Jagannathpur in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.
Sixteen students from Kalinganagar and nearby areas of Jajpur district have been sent for the training programme.
A skill assessment test was conducted for 42 students who completed ITI and Diploma courses in recent years.
The test revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic had disrupted their practical classes, leading to a gap in their skill set. To bridge this gap, TSF has partnered with TSSDS Pvt ITI Jagannathpur to enhance practical knowledge of the students.
Sanjay Choudhary, head of training at Tata Steel, had an interaction session with the trainees at Tata Steel Foundation office in Duburi.
More students will be sent for similar training programmes in the upcoming months.
