New Delhi: The Ore, Mines & Quarries (OMQ) Division and Sukinda Chromite Mine of Tata Steel have been conferred with the prestigious ‘Apex India Environment Excellence Award 2018’ for its exemplary efforts in Environment Management.
OMQ Division and Sukinda Chromite Mine (SCM) have been awarded in Platinum and Silver category respectively for Environment Excellence during an event organised by Apex India Foundation in New Delhi on May 29, 2018.
On behalf of the OMQ Division, Manager, Environment, Joda East Iron Mine Priyanka Upadhyay received the award from Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari.
Similarly, Head, Engineering Projects and Town, Ferro Alloys and Manganese Division Prabhash Gokarn and Manager, Environment, SCM Nikhil Agarwal received the award from the MP on behalf of SCM.
Expressing his happiness on receiving the award, Vice President, Raw Materials, Tata Steel Chanakya Chaudhary said, “We, at Tata Steel, are committed to conserve the environment and continuously strive for improvement in the environmental performance. We have adopted best and innovative methods to reduce and prevent pollution, promote waste avoidance and use natural resources and energy efficiently and taken recycling measures for a sustainable environment.”
A total of 70 organisations had competed for the Apex India award in the category of environment excellence and post a thorough evaluation, the high-level jury selected Tata Steel for the honour.
