Tata Tigor Electric With 231 Km Range Launched At Rs 9.44 Lakh

Leading the drive to electric vehicles, Tata Motors on Wednesday launched an extended range version of Tigor EV for all consumers.

Previously, the car with lower range was available only for fleet buyers.

The Tigor, however, does not get the new Ziptron electric powertrain that the company showcased recently. That powertrain will come in the Nexon EV first.

The Tigor Electric in 3 variants – XE+, XM+ and XT+ will be available in 30 cities at a starting price  of ₹ 9.44 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), and this includes government’s FAME II subsidies.

The new extended range version of the Tigor gets a 21.5 kWh battery that has a rated range of 213 km, which is 71 km more than the previous version.

Ashesh Dhar, Head – Sales, Marketing and Customer Service, Electric Vehicle Business, Tata Motors Ltd, said, “This new version builds on the success of the award winning Tigor EV, which is already deployed with several fleets and Government customers. This launch reinforces our commitment towards sustainable mobility solutions in India.”

Apart from EV decals and a new front grille, there is not much distinction from the petrol/diesel Tigor.

The car gets dual airbags (XE+ variant with Driver Airbag only) and ABS as standard. It comes with an inbuilt 3 years or 1.25 lakh kms warranty.
