Tata To Setup Rs 4K Crore Lithium Battery Plant

Amidst the Electric Vehicle (EV) wave, Tata Group is going to build a 10 GW lithium-ion battery plant in Gujarat.

The plant is expected to come up in 126 acres at Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), the group has announced.

The total investment will be Rs 4,000 crore, including Rs 1,000 crore being in the 1st phase.

In the Union Budget, the government has announced sops for EV battery manufacturing, along with incentives such as lower GST and up to Rs 1.5 lakh tax rebate on purchase of EV.

Incidentally, Tata Motors is ready with the electric Tigor, which it has supplied to EESL and is available for purchase by commercial buyers now. Tata Group’s other company Tata Power is setting up EV charging points in Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad and intends to install 1,000 such points in a year’s time.
