Bhubaneswar: Sending shockwaves across the city gripped by festive fervour, a tea vendor was murdered allegedly over a land dispute in front of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)’s office in Bhubaneswar in the wee hours of Wednesday.
The deceased, identified as Soumya Ranjan Kundu, was killed allegedly by Kabu Dash and Pauni Dash, both autorickshaw drivers.
Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh told mediapersons that a dispute over land and a paan shop led to the murder.
Singh said that the accused, who were inebriated, spotted the victim at around 2 am on Wednesday. There was an argument following which the accused stabbed him with a sharp-edged weapon. The accused fled the spot.
“Sahid Nagar police reached the spot and rushed the victim to AIIMS in a critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries. The accused have been arrested,” the DCP said.
