Nabarangpur: Police have arrested a teacher of a private school for allegedly beating a nursery student in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district.
As per reports, Dhanraj Satnami, the 5-year-old son of Lagunu Satnamo of Kanadihi village under Kundei police station in the district, was admitted in nursery classes of Sahid Birsa Munda Public School at Hatabharandi.
He had gone to the school in a hired auto-rickshaw in the morning, but returned home crying in the same vehicle in the afternoon. When enquired by his parents, Dhanraj said schoolteacher Jay Kumar Gond beat him up mercilessly. He also showed the assault marks on his back.
Dhanraj’s parents filed a written complaint against the teacher at Kundei police station. Later, police arrested Gond and started further investigation.
It may be noted that the state government has banned corporal punishment in schools. Anybody violating the order is liable to face legal action.
