Teacher Killed, Over 20 Students Injured As Bus Overturns In Odisha’s Nabarangpur

Bhubaneswar: A physical education teacher (PET) was killed while over 20 students sustained varying degrees of injuries when the bus in which they were travelling to Chandahandi sports event in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district overturned on Wednesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Prabhas Jena, a teacher of Umerkote Swami Vivekanand Bidya Mandir.

According to sources, the accident took place after the brakes of the bus, carrying students of several schools along with teachers of Umerkote to the district-level sports event, failed while negotiating a curve.

On being informed, police arrived at the spot and rushed the injured to Jharigaon Community Health Centre. A probe into the circumstances leading to the accident is underway.
