Mumbai: The last rites of actor Vikas Sethi were performed in Mumbai on Monday afternoon.

Friends and family bid a tearful farewell to the popular television actor who died due to cardiac arrest on Sunday.

“With immense sorrow, we inform you about the passing of our beloved Vikas Sethi, who left us all on the 8th of September, 2024. The final rites will be carried out according to Hindu traditions on 9th September. Your presence, prayers, and support, in this trying time would be deeply appreciated,” the actor’s wife Jhanvi Sethi had posted on her Instagram handle.

The 48-year-old actor was known for his roles in TV serials like ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, ‘Kahiin To Hoga’, ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ and blockbuster Bollywood movie ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’.

The actor and his wife were in Nashik to attend a family function when he fell ill.

Vikas had bouts of vomiting and loose motion, but refused to be taken to the hospital.

“When I went to wake him up at around 6 am in the morning (on Sunday), he was no more. The doctor there told us he passed away last night in his sleep due to cardiac arrest,” Jhanvi told PTI.

His body was sent to Cooper Hospital in Mumbai for a post-mortem.

Vikas is survived by his wife, whom he married in 2018, and twin sons, who were born in 2021.

His untimely death left fans and friends in shock.

Hiten Tejwani, who worked with him in ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ and ‘Kasautii Zindagii Kay’, fondly remembered Vikas.

“We had a great rapport and since we were doing two shows together, we’d hang out post work. He was a mast-khush kind of person. Doston ka dost and always there for you,” Hiten said during a conversation with Hindustan Times.
