New Delhi: This is not good news for those who don’t, or can’t afford to change their mobile phones every two or three years. Come September 27, Google will not allow older Android phones or other devices from signing in to their services.
In just over six weeks from now, Android version 2.3.7 or older will not be compatible with Google.
Anyone who possesses an older device after September will get an error message despite entering the correct login ID and password.
This will be applicable mainly for Gmail, YouTube and Maps.
“If your device has the ability to update to a newer Android version (3.0+), we advise you to do so in order to maintain access to Google apps and services on that device,” Google said in a statement about the upcoming stoppage of support.
Even the Calendar app cannot be accessed as other apps like Gmail will no longer get support. And without Google’s support, the Calendar app or anything connected to it will malfunction and show error.
