New Delhi: The Centre will soon launch PM eVIDYA programme to improve the accessibility to education through technology amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under the flagship initiative, the focus will be to prepare e-content and QR coded textbooks for all grades, special e-content for visually and hearing impaired, one dedicated channel for classes I-XII, and increased dependence on radio, community radio and podcasts, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Sunday.

Moreover, 100 universities will be permitted to automatically start online courses by May 30.
Among other initiatives, the new national curriculum will be integrated with 21st-century global skill requirements.
For psychosocial support to teachers, students, and families, the government is planning to come up with Manodarpan to ensure their emotional and mental well-being, the Minister said.
Since the schools have been focusing on online education amid the nationwide lockdown, 200 new textbooks have been added to e-Paathshaala. Besides, government’s DIKSHA platform for school education has received 61 crore hits from March 24 till date, she added.
