Ahmedabad: A teenage girl was allegedly raped by three persons when she was out with a friend during the ongoing Navratri festival in Surat district of Gujarat.

According to police, the 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at around 11 pm on Thursday. The incident occurred on Mota Borsara’s outskirts in Mangrol Taluka under the Kosamba police station, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Hitesh Joysar said.

The girl met her friends after finishing her coaching classes at around 10.30 pm. She and her two friends had ice cream. Finally, she and her male friends were sitting in a deserted place near Mota Borsara village when three people approached them. They grabbed the girl and started sexually assaulting her. Her friend meanwhile managed to escape and informed the nearby villagers, who alerted the police about the incident.
