Bengaluru: Juvenile crime is a serious issue in India.

In the latest incident underlining the gravity of the matter, a minor boy was arrested in Karnataka’s Mulbagal after he confessed to killing his mother.

The shocking incident took place on Friday morning after an argument over breakfast.

The 17-year-old boy, a second-year diploma student, was upset when he came to know that his mother hadn’t prepared breakfast before he left for college.

There were heated arguments between mother and son, following which the angry teenager lost his cool and hit his mother on the head with an iron rod.

As she fell down, her son sprinkled water on her face to bring her back to consciousness.

Sometime later, he realised that she was dead, and walked about a kilometre to the nearest police station.

Those on duty at KR Puram police station were surprised to see a young boy walk in and ask for the circle inspector.

On being told that the inspector will arrive around 10 am and asked what the matter was, the teenager said, “Nannu namma taayina kondubitte (I killed my mother),” in Kannada, The Times of India reported.

The 17-year-old then narrated how things unfolded at home and confessed to killing his mother.

He was then taken into custody.
