Angul: Despite the government’s repeated alerts and awareness campaigns, a tehsildar reportedly fell victim to cyber fraud and was duped of Rs 90,000 in Odisha’s Angul district.
According to police sources, Rosalin Behera, tehsildar of Talcher in the district, received a message on her mobile phone from an unknown number.
Instead of cross-checking the number, she clicked on a link given in the message. Soon after, she received a message from the bank where she was operating an account. It stated that Rs 90,000 had been debited from her account.
Following this, the tehsildar filed a complaint at Talcher police station. The police have registered a case and started investigation, the sources said.
