Hyderabad: Telanagana has become the first state in India to extend COVID-19 lockdown till May 29.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said that the decision to continue with the existing restrictions till May 29 was taken to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The nationwide lockdown 3.0 is scheduled to end on May 17.
The government has also decided to allow liquor shops resume business from Wednesday in all zones – red, orange and green, while increasing the prices by 15 per cent. Of the 33 districts, six are in the red zone, 18 in orange and nine in the green zone.
Telangana has reported 1,085 corona positive cases. The virus has so far claimed 29 lives in the state.
