Bhubaneswar: There was a marginal relief in heatwave condition as temperature dropped in most parts of the state in the last 24 hours.

According to the evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Titlagarh was the hottest place in the state with 41.4 degree Celsius, followed by Balangir with 41 degree and Boudh with 39 degree. Rest of the places recorded less than 39 degree Celsius with Puri recording the lowest 33 degree during the period.

Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded maximum temperature of 37.2 degree and 36.1 degree Celsius respectively.

On Wednesday, as many 8 urban centres in the state had registered 39 degree Celsius or more.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea and East Equatorial
Indian Ocean persisted on the day. It is likely continue to move eastnortheastwards, become a well marked low pressure area and lie over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea on Saturday.

Thereafter, it is likely to move nearly northwards off Andaman and Nicobar Islands, intensifying into a depression by morning of Sunday and into a cyclonic storm on Monday.

However, the system will have no impact on Odisha, the IMD stated in the bulletin.
