Temperature Soars To 41 Degree Celsius Or More In 18 Places Of Odisha; Baripada Hottest

Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to remain in grip of heatwave with 18 places recording temperature of 41 degree Celsius or more on Tuesday.

According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, Baripada was the hottest place in the state for second day with maximum (day) temperature of 43.6 degree Celsius. The district headquarters of Mayurbhanj registered 41.4 degree on Monday.

The maximum temperature soared to 42 degree Celsius or more in 5 places and 40 degree or more in as many as 29 places in the state on Tuesday.

Baripada was followed by Nuapada and Parlakhemundi with 42.4 degree and Talcher and Boudh with 42 degree.

Bhubaneswar, which was second highest on Monday with 41.2 degree, saw the mercury further rising to 41.9 degree Celsius on Tuesday.

The IMD said the day temperature is very likely to rise by 2°C to 3°C at many places in Odisha during next 2 days due to Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation.

Maximum temperature is likely to be more than 40°C or above at many places and above normal by 3 to 5°C in some districts during next 4 days.

The Met offi e has forecast that hot and humid condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places in the districts
of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.

It has advised the people to take precautionary measure while going outside during day time between 11 am and 3 pm.
