Balangir: Tension prevailed at Bangomunda village in Odisha’s Balangir district, which saw a road blockade over alleged police inaction on Wednesday.
According to sources, five persons were injured in a group clash during the ‘Chhatar Jatra’ two days ago. The situation further escalated on Tuesday after hundreds of supporters of those injured gheraoed Bangomunda police station, demanding the immediate arrest of the attackers. Two groups of villagers also came to blows last evening.
Following the incident, adequate police force has been deployed in the village to prevent any untoward incident. IICs, and SDPOs of four police stations are taking stock of the situation and trying to pacify the agitating villagers, the sources added.
Senior police officials, however, could not be contacted over the matter.
