Cuttack: Death of a newborn at a private hospital in Odisha’s Cuttack city triggered tension on Monday with the family members alleging that the baby died because of medical negligence.
As per information, a couple from Jajpur had admitted their newborn son at Sishu Bhawan on October 26 and later shifted him to a private hospital in the CDA area of the city.
The couple claimed that doctors at the private hospital had stated that the baby had been put on ventilator support and treatment was underway. However, they were later informed about the death of the baby
Alleging negligence on the part of doctors and other medical staff, the family members created a ruckus on hospital premises.
The family members of the baby said that the newborn was taken to the private hospital after they were told that the hospital has ventilator facility. However, the baby was kept in the ICU with Oxygen support and he died died due to medical negligence, they alleged.
Grandmother of the deceased baby said she had gone to bring more money after depositing Rs 50,000 with the hospital. “However, my son called me later and informed about the tragedy,” she said.
The hospital authorities are yet to comment on the issue.
