Tension After Patient’s Death, Locals Block Road In Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed at Jayadev Square here as locals blocked the road after a woman died at the ESI hospital on Thursday morning.

Alleging medical negligence in the case, they demanded compensation for the bereaved family

The deceased was identified as Ahalya Bhanja, a resident of Salia Sahi. She was admitted to the hospital due to asthma problem.

As her condition deteriorated, the doctors advised that she be shifted to another hospital. However, it was delayed due to some technical problem in the computer at the hospital, her husband, Kirtan Bhanja, alleged.

Ahalya died this morning morning, following which, locals of Salia Sahi reached the spot and blocked Jayadev Vihar-Mayfair Hotel Square by placing the body on road.

On being informed, police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
